Ellen Kunes was named Editor in Chief of Health in January of 2007 and Editorial Director of Health.com in December of 2008. Kunes joined the magazine and website with more than 20 years of experience in the publishing industry.

Prior to Health, Kunes was the founding editor of O, The Oprah Magazine which became one of the most successful launches in magazine history. After O, she became editor-in-chief of Redbook, where she revamped the look of the magazine, created new sections and columns, and oversaw brand extensions including new books, a magazine Web site and new products. Earlier in her career, Kunes served as executive editor at Cosmopolitan and Redbook and lifestyle director at McCall’s and was an editorial consultant for Health. She also held a variety of editorial posts at such titles as Self, Mademoiselle, and Seventeen.

Kunes has also made numerous appearances as a magazine representative on a variety of television programs including Good Morning America, The Today Show, Entertainment Tonight, Extra, and CNN.

Kunes currently resides in Manhattan with her husband and twin boys.
