Emily Miller is a public affairs and media consultant in Washington, DC with over 15 years of experience. Miller writes about politics and media for websites and newspapers, and she makes regular TV and radio appearances.

Miller provides her clients with a wide variety of communications and media services, including strategic communications, publicity, media training, speech writing and message management. She works with clients to provide creative, new ideas for attracting media attention in traditional and new media and to craft effective and clear messages for reaching key audiences.

During the administration of President George W. Bush, Miller was the Deputy Press Secretary at the U.S. Department of State. She worked directly with Secretaries of State Colin L. Powell and Condoleezza Rice to develop and implement communication strategies to achieve U.S. foreign policy. She provided confidential communications counsel to the Secretary at a time when the United States was fighting wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan. She traveled with the Secretary on all overseas missions, taking her to 50 countries, most often to the Middle East.

Prior to her appointment at the State Department, Miller worked on Capitol Hill during the years that the Republicans were in the majority of both the U.S. House and Senate. She directed and developed strategic communications to support the Republican leadership's legislative goals during the period of President Bush’s 100 days agenda and through the post- 9/11 period. As Communications Director to the House Majority Whip Tom DeLay (R-TX), she provided counsel for internal and external communications of policy goals. Miller was the senior official spokesperson and spoke daily on-the-record to national print and TV reporters and editorial writers. Miller also served as Press Secretary Press Secretary for Rep. Rick Lazio (R-NY) and was his official spokesperson for all national and New York media.

Miller also worked for five years in network TV on political shows. At ABC News, she was the Associate Producer of the public affairs Sunday show, “This Week”, when it was hosted by David Brinkley and then by Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts. She was also the Associate Producer for the news division of "Good Morning America." She began her career at NBC News as a production assistant for "Nightly News with Tom Brokaw."

A Baltimore native, Miller is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Foreign Service.
