Executive Director of New York Cares

Gary Bagley is Executive Director of New York Cares, New York City’s largest volunteer organization.

New York Cares runs volunteer programs at 1,000 nonprofits, public schools, and city agencies across the five boroughs, mobilizing 48,000 volunteers to help 400,000 New Yorkers living in poverty each year. Gary has held senior positions with New York Cares, Young Audiences New York, and TADA!. He started his career as a teaching artist in the public school system.

Gary has a B.S from Ithaca College, and an MPA from Baruch College of The City University of New York, where he is now an Adjunct Lecturer. He is a regular conference speaker on civic engagement, citizen service, and nonprofit management issues.
