A. Haag Sherman is a Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Salient Partners, L.P., a Houston-based investment firm with over $8 billion in assets. Salient has been an innovator in the development and distribution of investment products for individuals and institutions, and is one of the largest independent investment firms based in the Southwest. In his capacity as CIO, he has developed most of Salient’s investment products, and oversees its investment programs on behalf of individuals and institutional clients.

Mr. Sherman also serves as Co-Chief Executive Officer and a Director of The Endowment Fund, a $5 billion fund designed to replicate the portfolio of a large university endowment. He has written and commented extensively on behalf of his firm and also in the press on a variety of topics, particularly economic and policy matters.

Mr. Sherman began his career with Price Waterhouse, and also practiced law for Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer, & Feld LLP, where he specialized in corporate securities law. He is married to Millette Lewis Sherman and has two young daughters, Carson Alaina Sherman (age 7) and Julia Grace Sherman (age 2). Mr. Sherman is an honors graduate of the University of Texas School of Law and a cum laude graduate of Baylor University. He is also a certified public accountant and a member of the State Bar of Texas.

Mr. Sherman authored a book called Shattering Orthodoxies: An Economic and Foreign Policy Blueprint for America. The book outlines the causes of the current economic crisis and provides an integrated plan to address the crisis. The book reached no. 6 among Social Policy books on Amazon.com.
