Helen Blakesley is the regional information officer for West and Central Africa for Catholic Relief Services, the official international humanitarian agency of the Catholic community in the United States. She is based in Dakar, Senegal. She has worked as a freelance journalist and as a writer for IRIN OCHA (United Nations Humanitarian News Service), West Africa Democracy Radio, Global Health TV, and The Northern Echo newspaper in her hometown of Nottingham, England. She has also worked as a professional translator and as a broadcast journalist for several outlets in England, including BBC Radio.
