Hitendra Patel

Global Professor of Innovation and Growth at Hult International Business School, Managing Director of the IXL Center and Board Member at the Hult Prize

Professor Patel is the chair of the Innovation Program at Hult International Business School, and founder and Managing Director of IXL Center. He also serves as a board member of the Hult Prize and responsible for the management of it’s social business incubator.

Previously he was senior leader and co-founder of Monitor Group's Innovation practice; prior to Monitor he was a senior manager at Arthur D. Little.

Prof. Patel has lectured and coached 1000s of emerging business leaders, mangers and senior executives. As a management consultant he has achieved lasting impact with many types of corporations globally across a wide range of industries; the incremental value of the “Innovation Premium” achieved by the companies he has consulted to is calculated at over US$30 billion. In addition he has led several significant national level projects, including the landmark State of Innovation review in Singapore and the recent Boston Innovation Gateway (BIG) initiative.

Originally born and raised in Zambia, Prof. Patel has studied and worked at leading global institutions including the Motorola Research Labs. Prof. Patel has an MBA from Kellogg School of Management, a BSEE from Washington University in St. Louis and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Iowa State University. He is a Charter Member at TiE-Boston. He is the owner of six global patents.

Prof. Patel is author of the books “101 Innovation Breakthroughs”, “State of Innovation at the Firm-Level in Singapore”, “Greenovate - Companies Innovating to Create a More Sustainable World”, “Connectivate! - Innovation in the connected world of today and tomorrow”; and the soon to published “Thinking and Acting Differently to Make Innovation Real”. He has also contributed to and published articles at the national and regional level on the topic of economic development in Brazil, India, Indonesia, Singapore, US and the UK.
