Jana Sweeny

Jana brings over 18 years of experience in communications, disaster relief and humanitarian assistance to her position as director of international communications for the American Red Cross. In her role, she ensures the American public is informed about the work of the American Red Cross in an international arena through a variety of communications platforms. Jana began her Red Cross career in the Service to Armed Forces (SAF) division.

Jana serves as a Red Cross national media spokesperson and external affairs liaison during times of disaster, including multiple hurricanes, floods and tornados, the Sago Mine disaster, the Boston Marathon Bombing and the terrorist attacks on the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Jana is a member of the International Response Roster and deployed to Haiti in 2010.
