Jean-François Lepetit

Jean-François Lepetit has served as Handicap International’s Head of Mission in the fight against landmines for Senegal since June 2010. In addition to developing and executing a strategy to nationalize two key landmine clearance positions in Senegal, he also lobbies the Senegalese government to continue its commitment to demining.

Lepetit took a brief break from Senegal in March 2012, when he traveled to Republic of Congo's capital, Brazzaville, to respond to the emergency situation that resulted from a series of explosions at munitions depots there on March 4. As Head of Mission, he managed Handicap International’s initial response, set targets, and developed a methodology of post-emergency clean up. This program continues.

From 2008-2010, Lepetit was a roaming administrator, auditing Handicap programs in Burundi, Lebanon, Burkina Faso and Senegal, as well as offering advice and training to local staff.

He received his Master’s in Sociology, applied to local development, at the University of Lyon 2, and also completed a course at Bioforce Institute, Vénissieux. He received his Bachelor’s degree in business at the European Center for Training, Paris.
