Jeff N. Simmons

President, Elanco

Jeff Simmons is president of Elanco, the animal health division of Eli Lilly and Company, which develops products and services to enhance animal health, wellness and performance. Growing up on a family farm, Simmons has been involved in agriculture since high school, when he participated in and was a recognized leader of Future Farmers of America (FFA). He then obtained his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in marketing and agricultural economics.

In more than two decades with Elanco, Simmons has held a number of international management positions, which have led to his deep conviction about the need for sustainable solutions to global food security. While working in Sao Paulo, Brazil and observing the devastating impact of hunger on health and families, Simmons saw the need for agricultural innovations to improve animal health and productivity – thereby improving the nutritional opportunities of the middle class and closing the protein gap globally.

Simmons’ personal passion for food security complements his company’s commitment to enable affordable, abundant and safe food through innovation. Most recently, he published the ENOUGH Report and launched www.SensibleTable.com to support a food-secure tomorrow. Simmons also serves on the board of directors for Chiquita and Gleaners Food Bank of Central Indiana, and he is President of the International Federation of Animal Health (IFAH).
