Jennifer Ng’andu

Social Change Advocate

For more than a decade, Jennifer Ng'andu has focused on social and policy change to promote and improve the health of underserved communiteis. Her current work is focused on in philanthropic investments that result in violence prevention and childhood obesity reduction. Previous positions include work at the National Council of La Raza and National Immigration Law Center.

Ms. Ng’andu has expertise in a broad range of health and nutrition issues affecting Latinos, specializing in children’s policy and immigrant communities for which she has testified before committees of Congress. Her media credits include a diverse variety of radio, print, and television media, including The New York Times, BBC, and The Washington Post. In 2008 she received the Health Braintrust Leadership in Advocacy Award from the Congressional Black Caucus. She was also recognized in 2013 by Families USA, receiving their Consumer Health Advocate Award for her work on health equity issues.

Outside of her work in philanthropy, Ms. Ng’andu is engaged in other activities to strengthen health and health care. Ms. Ng'andu Vice President of the board of directors of the Herndon Alliance. In 2012, she joined the Advisory Board for the Ventanillas de Salud, the Mexican government’s initiative to promote health and well-being of Mexican nationals in the U.S. Ms. Ng'andu has alo held a position with the National Physicians Alliance Board of Directors and Council of Consumers.

Ms. Ng’andu was born in Zambia and hails from southeastern Connecticut.
