Jon Bonnell

Celebrity chef

Jon Bonnell is a celebrity chef from Fort Worth, Texas with two restaurants, a culinary instructor position and most recently, a highly acclaimed cookbook. A husband and father of a two year old, Chef Bonnell is no stranger to the fast paced world of the culinary industry. After graduating from Vanderbilt University in 1994 and the New England Culinary Institute in 1997, Chef Bonnell began his culinary career by working in different kitchens from New Orleans to Texas before opening his flagship restaurant BONNELL'S, Fine Texas Cuisine in 2001. Consistently one of the top rated restaurants in Texas by the Zagat Survey and recognitions such as Rising Star of American Cuisine by the James Beard Foundation are just a few of his numerous acclaims. Chef Bonnell has been invited to cook at the prestigious James Beard House on four separate occasions and has appeared on television show such as The Today Show, the CBS Early Show, The Food Network, and ABC's Nightline, just to name a few. A master of his craft and teacher at heart, Chef Bonnell is also famous for a "no secrets" approach to cooking, giving away all recipes to anyone who asks. Many are also featured in his new cookbook, Jon Bonnell's Fine Texas Cuisine, which even includes a list of his favorite farms, ranches and cheesemakers. Chef Bonnell is as open and giving as any chef today, taking the completely opposite approach in the kitchen to the hot-tempered and fiery reputation for which so many in the field have become famous.
