I currently live in Bentonville, Arkansas (the home of Wal-Mart) and I have had the racing bug my whole life. I was originally a NASCAR fan from birth, idolizing Mark Martin but at Auto Club Speedway in 2004 that all changed. I saw Indy Cars for the first time live (it was just a practice session, but still) and I immediately was hooked and have been a die hard IndyCar fan since. I started writing in October of 2011 and have enjoyed it ever since.
I was born in Riverside, California and was almost named after Arie Luyendyk of all people. The day I was born, the Indy Car race from Phoenix was on TV and my parents thought that if Rick Mears won the race, they would change my name to Rick. When Arie won, needless to say a dutchman’s name did not fit their palette. In retrospect, being named after a 2 time Indianapolis 500 winner isn’t such a bad thing.
Probably one of the best things about writing/blogging whatever you want to call it is getting the opportunities to talk to my heroes.
I also write for Formula 1 Blog. Follow me on Twitter @jfarmer7710.
