Journalist, Best-Selling Author, Activist, An All-around Angry-Ass Black Woman

Quinones Miller was born and raised in Harlem, and dropped out of school in the 8th grade -- however, after spending five years in the U.S. Navy, and working as a secretary for the Philadelphia Daily News, she enrolled at Temple University at age 32, and graduated with honors 4 years later. Miller has worked for the Associated Press, Cox Newspapers - Washington Bureaus, the Norfolk Virginian Pilot, and the Philadelphia Inquirer before retiring from journalism in 2000 in order to pursue a career as a novelist. She has eight books published by major publishers -- five of which became national bestsellers, and one which was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Fiction.
