Khazar Fatemi

Journalist in Sweden

Khazar Fatemi was born in Iran and brought up in Afghanistan. At the age of seven, Khazar and her family narrowly fled Afghanistan for a better life in Sweden. After two years in a Swedish refugee camp, Khazar and her family received full citizenship. She has lived and worked in Sweden ever since.

Over the last few years Khazar has been working as a broadcast journalist for Sweden's largest news network, SVT. During that time she has been involved with the country's top-rated news program, Rapport.

Khazar has a wide range of experience covering both local and foreign news. She speaks four languages, and because of this, has had the opportunity to be involved with various international news events across the globe. Her most recent international report was done from an Afghanistan refugee camp outside of Kabul.

In addition to her work as a journalist, Khazar is also an up and coming filmmaker. She is currently working on her feature documentary, Where My Heart Beats, about Khazar's return to Afghanistan for the first time in 20 years. Where My Heart Beats will be translated into four different languages and screened around the world.
