Kristie Smith has been an educator and writer in the Dallas area for over thirty-seven-years. She has worked with all grade levels and has been voted as an Apple Corp Teacher in 2006 and teacher of the year at Kimbrough Middle School in Mesquite, Texas. Smith was also twice nominated for Who’s Who Among Special Needs Teachers. In 2010, Kristie was nominated for a media writing award through The Dallas Morning News. Smith is currently writing a novel series about a blind girl detective -- The Adventures of Abby Diamond -- which teaches children that people with disabilities are just like others. Smith also instructs sighted students to learn Braille through her series, Learning Braille with Dottie and Dots. Smith recently began a new business, Educational Solutions, in Rockwall, Texas, where she and other employees tutoring children with special needs.
