Kristina M. Johnson
Founder and CEO, Enduring Hydro; Former Under Secretary of Energy, U.S. Department of Energy
Kristina M. Johnson served as Under Secretary of Energy, U.S. Department of Energy from May 2009 until October 2010. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Johnson was Provost and Senior Vice President at The Johns Hopkins University (2007-2009), Dean of Engineering at Duke University (1999-2007) and Professor of ECE at the University of Colorado, Boulder (1985-1999). She received her B.S, M.S.E.E., and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Stanford University and was a NATO post-doctoral fellow at Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland.
An NSF Presidential Young Investigator and Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Johnson received the Dennis Gabor Prize, John Fritz Medal, Society of Women Engineers Lifetime Achievement Award, the ARCS Foundation Eagle Award and the Anita Borg Foundation Woman of Vision Leadership Award. A fellow of the OSA, IEEE and AAAS, she has authored 142 refereed publications, holds 129 U.S. and international patents and has honorary degrees from the University of Alabama at Huntsville, Tufts University and Trinity College, Dublin.
Dr. Johnson was recognized by the States of Colorado and North Carolina and the U.S. Small Business Technology Council for technology transfer work having co-founded ColorLink,Inc (sold to RealD), SouthEast Techinventures, Enduring Energy,LLC and Enduring Hydro. Dr. Johnson serves on the Boards of Boston Scientific, African Wildlife Foundation, Rocky Mountain Institute, AES Corporation and the Cisco Corporation.
Dr. Johnson is founder and chief executive officer of Enduring Hydro based in Washington, DC.
