Kumaran Chanthrakumar

Senior at Stuyvesant High School

As a high school senior and a passionate anti-bullying activist, Kumaran strives to tackle the problem that has taken a hold of his life for many years. Founding StuyRepresent, the first Anti-Bullying club at his school, Stuyvesant High School, Kumaran seeks to be the voice of those that are unable to speak out. He gives presentations at middle schools and elementary schools to students and discusses bullying and ways to tackle the problem. He is a student delegate in the Anti-Bullying Leadership Network (ABLN), a student-run organization made to decrease the frequency of bullying in schools by connecting students, teachers, parents, and other prominent leaders.

As an avid software developer, Kumaran wishes to use his skills to help others and make life fun. He makes games for enjoyment and builds software to assist others. Kumaran has also put the finishing touches on an Anti-Bullying App, a narrative that gives people a look into the lives of people who are being bullied. He plans to have his app published in October of 2014, the official anti-bullying awareness month.

As a musician, Kumaran plays the clarinet, the piano, and the drums. He has played for Stuyvesant's Symphonic Band, the school Pep Band, and also the Wagner College Band at holiday events. Most importantly, he is a mean Scrabble player.
