Locke Rush

Psychotherapist, marriage counselor

Dr. Locke Rush has over 35 years experience as a psychotherapist and marriage counselor.A graduate of Princeton University and former officer in the United States Marine Corps, he was also co-author and co producer of Rooftops of New York, an Academy Award nominated short subject film. He lived in Japan for four years,studying and practicing the disciplines of Zen Buddhism and,during this period, spent a year as a lay monk in the Ryutaku-ji Zen Monastery. At The Maryland Psychiatric Research Center,as part of a Government sponsored investigative team under Dr. Stanislav Grof, he underwent numerous clinical experiences with LSD and acted as psychotherapist in several LSD clinical studies.He received a Ph.D in Counseling Psychology in 1974 and went on to found the first Intensive Outpatient Addiction Treatment Program in Maryland. From 1975 through 1986 he studied under the great Sufi Master M.R.Bawa Muhaiyaddeen.He is married, lives in Unionville, Penna. and continues his practice of Psychotherapy and spiritual studies there. He is the author of two books: The True Marriage and Finding the Way Home.
