Interests lie in human trafficking, forensic psychiatry, and freedom.

Dr. Garuba is a psychiatrist who works in New York and provides care to the chronically mentally ill. She obtained her medical degree from Creighton University in 2005, and completed a residency in psychiatry at Creighton University/University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2009. After working for a few years, she completed a research fellowship in forensic psychiatry at Columbia University/New York State Psychiatric Institute, where one of her projects focused on Human Trafficking and the T-visa. She then went on to complete a forensic psychiatry fellowship at Oregon Health Sciences University. She has an interest in all aspects of human trafficking, particularly where it involves education, prevention, and treatment.
