Malene Smith Davis is President and CEO of Capital Caring, one of the oldest, largest and most experienced hospice and palliative care providers in the United States. Prior to Capital Caring, Ms. Davis was President and CEO of Hospice Care Corporation in Arthurdale, West Virginia. Starting as the organization’s first paid employee in 1988, Ms. Davis built Hospice Care into the largest hospice organization in West Virginia, serving 12 counties.

Recognized nationally for her work in advancing the hospice philosophy and advocating for better care for the seriously ill, Ms. Davis has earned numerous accolades. Most recently, she received the West Virginia School of Nursing Top 50 Graduates Award. As the leader of Innovations—a hospice collaborative—she is heavily involved in the Coalition to Transform Advanced Care (C-TAC), the preeminent national coalition that works to ensure that all Americans with advanced illness, especially the sickest and most vulnerable, will receive comprehensive, person-centered care.

Ms. Davis has served on many boards to advance hospice and palliative care. She completed her nursing degree (RN) at West Virginia University in Morgantown. She holds Masters Degrees in Business Administration (MBA) and Nursing (MSN) from West Virginia University.
