San Francisco Supervisor for the 10th District

Supervisor Malia Cohen was elected in November 2010 to represent the residents of San Francisco’s 10th District. The 10th District includes Bayview Hunters Point, Potrero Hill and Visitacion Valley. As the District 10 Supervisor, Cohen continues to focus on responsible land use and economic development, quality of life issues for children and families, and public safety.

Supervisor Cohen serves as Vice-Chair of the Land Use and Economic Development Committee, Vice-Chair of the Public Safety Committee and Chair of the City and School District Committee.

Supervisor Cohen came to the Board from Power Forward Consulting, a public affairs, media and policy consulting firm helping businesses and nonprofits create sound public policy. She is a former member of the Corporate Strategy and Communications team for the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco where she worked to supervise and regulate America’s banking institutions.

In addition to her work on economic issues, Supervisor Cohen has worked as a field organizer and an Executive Assistant to Mayor Newsom and Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff.

As a community advocate, she served as Assistant Executive Director of the Hunters Point Youth Park Foundation and on the Board of Directors of Emerge California, New Leaders Council, San Francisco Conservation Corp, and the Community Leadership Academy & Emergency Response Project.

Supervisor Cohen earned her Master of Science Degree in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University and her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Fisk University.

Supervisor Cohen lives in San Francisco.
