Mark is an author, leadership expert, and veteran convener of cross-party conversations. In the twenty years since he co-designed and facilitated the first US House of Representatives Bipartisan Congressional Retreat, he has been on the frontier of Democratic-Republican dialogues. His book Leading Through Conflict: How Successful Leaders Transform Differences Into Opportunities (published in 2006 by Harvard Business School Press) shares some of his key “transpartisan” learnings.

Having worked in both the private and public sectors, both domestically and internationally, his primary current focus is having a positive, transformative impact impact on the 2016 election. His forthcoming book The Reunited States of America: How We Can Bridge the Partisan Divide, which will be released in early 2016, shares the basic principles and profiles the leading figures in this movement. Endorsed by leading figures on both the Right and the Left, this book highlights more than forty individuals and organization who are crossing the political divide in communities across America right now.

As president of Mediators Foundation since 1986, he has incubated numerous projects designed to bridge divides and promote understanding. For the past quarter century, Mark has been incubating cutting-edge social change projects at Mediators Foundation.
