Matthew Hollander is a Ph.D. candidate in sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His dissertation, on language and social interaction in the Stanley Milgram Obedience Experiment, uses as data detailed transcripts of a large number of Milgram’s audio-recordings to examine the social psychology of resistance to authority. As a co-author, he has also published original qualitative research on speed dating and scientific survey interviewing. Matt is also a professional guitarist and songwriter, with a master's degree in jazz studies from Indiana University in Bloomington.
