Melanie Harris was hired at Guide Dogs for the Blind in 2007 as a Canine Welfare Technician. In 2010, she began her 3-year apprenticeship, which was completed in 2013 when she passed her exams to become a licensed Instructor. In 2017 she moved to her current role of Senior Guide Dog Mobility Instructor. Her tasks include being a mentor to apprentice instructors and working 1:1 with them for their first year in order for them to learn the tasks and techniques that the job requires. Outside of work, she enjoys horseback riding, swimming, and running.
