Murray Suid

Screenwriter and the cofounder of MobileMovieMaking.com

I'm the cofounder and editor of MobileMovieMaking.com (MMM). My beat is the mobile moviemaking revolution. It's about everyone using smartphones, tablets, drones, and GoPros to shoot movies in all genres. At MMM, we exhibit well-made mobile movies from around the world, publish simple but power tips, review gear, and run contests designed to encourage novices and pros to explore this new technology. We're especially interested in showcasing examples of mobile movies that enrich people's vocational and personal lives. Examples include making legacy videos (biographies) of family members and friends, shooting commercials for small businesses, creating instructional videos, and capturing local news (mobile journalism). Of course, we also feature thrillers, science fiction, comedies and other narrative forms. Trained as a screenwriter at UCLA and the coauthor of MovieMaking Illustrated: the Comicbook Filmbook , I'm now shooting my own mobile movies, currently finishing a short documentary about a 98-year-old woman who used Ikea as her social center, gym, and bistro.
