Biography for Marcia Y. Cantarella, PhD Dr. Cantarella is the author of I CAN Finish College: The Overcome Any Obstacle and Get Your Degree Guide (www.icanfinishcollege.com) and has been an Associate Dean at Hunter College, a Dean at Princeton University and part of the Dean’s staff at NYU’s College of Arts and Science. She has been responsible for academic advisement, career development, preparation for postgraduate fellowships, development of diversity programs, and strategies to enhance students’ academic experience and outcomes. She co-directs the CUNY Hunter College Black Male Initiative. She works with students, schools and programs around the issue of college success. Dr. Cantarella is the author of the support materials for the upcoming PBS documentary on college success “All the Difference”. She has worked with Prep for Prep, the Eagle Academy Schools, and A Better Chance among others. Dr. Cantarella comes from a long line of leaders and educators and is the daughter of late Civil Rights leader Whitney M. Young, Jr.
