A native of South Central Los Angeles and graduate of Dillard and Yale, Nicole Tinson-Johnson is young, educated and committed to changing our community from inside and outside of the system. Nicole is the co-founder and president of Jobs R 4 U, a nonprofit organization committed to economic equity and empowerment for all, especially women, youth and people of color. She is committed to ensuring people have the resources they need to find and create jobs while alleviating violence within the community. Mrs. Tinson-Johnson became actively involved while a student at Dillard University serving in various leadership capacities including: President of the NAACP chapter, the Social Action Chair for the Beta Gamma chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and a founding member of the Black Youth Project 100 (BYP100). She was also an Emerging Leaders intern through the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and interned in the Office of Congressman Cedric Richmond and a Young People For (YP4) fellow. While at Dillard, she was selected for the inaugural White House HBCU All Star program and succeeded in confirming FLOTUS Michelle Obama as Dillard’s commencement speaker. Thereafter, she attended Yale for graduate school to study religion. While there, she organized students and administration collectively to work on ways to be more inclusive of the diverse student body.
