Author, "The Autobiography of Fidel Castro"

A former member of the Cuban Revolution as well as a respected Hemingway scholar and journalist, Norberto Fuentes is the author of ten books, including "Hemingway in Cuba". He won the 1968 Casa de las Américas Prize for his collection of short stories Condenados del Condado (The Condemned of Condado). The publication of The Autobiography of Fidel Castro caused an international sensation. In Spain, El País declared it “A contemporary classic of Latin American literature,” and called Fuentes “The best Cuban writer in recent times.” In Germany, Die Zeit reported, “Fuentes has written what will probably be the best book about the Cuban dictator for a long time.”
