NBA Player
Norm Nixon was born and raised in Macon, Georgia where he played both basketball and football at Southwest High School. He focused strictly on basketball at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, impressing the Los Angeles Lakers enough to make him a first-round pick in the 1977 NBA draft. Named to the 1978 NBA All-Rookie team, Nixon was a member of two NBA championship teams as a Laker, in 1980 and ’82, before being traded to the Clippers, then located in San Diego. He had a ten-year career in the NBA before retiring from the Clippers, who, by then, had moved to L.A.
