Professor of Philosophy, Ethicist, Lecturer, Author
I am a Professor in the Department of Philosophy and in the D'Amore‐McKim School of Business at Northeastern University. I am also a Lecturer in Law at Northeastern University School of Law, and I am a Spring 2017 fellow at the Carr Center for Human Rights at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. I hold degrees in both Philosophy and in Law, and I am a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association. My recent books are The Health of Newcomers: Immigration, Health Policy, and the Case for Global Solidarity (with Wendy E. Parmet, NYU Press, January 2017), Us Before Me: Ethics and Social Capital for Global Well-Being (Palgrave Macmillan, 2012), and Giving Well: The Ethics of Philanthropy (with Thomas Pogge and Leif Wenar, OUP, 2011). My areas of expertise are the ethics and human rights issues of multinational corporations, ethics and health (including medicine and the health of immigrants), and ethics and philanthropy.
