While planning my daughter Amanda’s wedding, I found a huge gap at the beginning of the wedding planning process — brides are immediately hit with a myriad of checklists, a multitude of photos, and a million costly decisions. In addition, none of the renowned books and websites devoted more than a page or two to overall vision and design. Overwhelmed, I decided to do what I do­ best—I created a strategic brand style guide for Amanda’s wedding. I made copies and brought one to every vendor meeting. Afterwards, we were inundated with requests from planners, vendors, and friends for our style guide templates. We had an “Aha Moment” and realized that the strategies and tools used to create great brand experiences, could be translated and used to create great wedding experiences, and that this was something clearly missing from the wedding marketplace. Hence, Wedding Brand was born!
