Patrick W. Galbraith holds a Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology at Duke University. In addition to Otaku Spaces, he is the author of The Otaku Encyclopedia (Kodansha International, 2009) and Tokyo Realtime: Akihabara (White Rabbit Press, 2010). He has published academic papers in Mechademia, ejcjs and Signs and is a former contributor to Metropolis, Otaku USA and CNN Go.
