Raised in a strict Catholic family, Patty Ptak Kogutek lived as a nun for seven years. After leaving the convent, she continued working in education and has a doctorate in policy, planning and school administration from the University of Southern California. Today, Patty and her husband split their time between Arizona and Montana. She is active in community charity work and a member of the Authors of the Flathead in Montana and the Scottsdale Society of Women Writers in Arizona.
