Paul Tarini is the team leader for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Pioneer Portfolio, which actively seeks innovative projects that may lead to significant breakthroughs in the future of health and health care. Tarini also serves as a senior program officer for the Pioneer Portfolio, leading and advising the development of programs that explore digital games’ potential to enable people of all ages to improve their health. Tarini, who joined the Foundation in 1994, also has served as a senior communications officer working with the Quality Program Management Team and with the Human Capital Portfolio. Tarini came to the Foundation after serving as senior publication information officer in the American Medical Association’s Department of Science News. He also covered business for American Medical News and was a reporter for the City News Bureau of Chicago. Born in Chicago, Tarini earned an M.A. in public affairs journalism from Columbia College in Chicago and a B.A. in political science from Grinnell College in Iowa.
