Rachel Demma

17-year-old high school senior

Rachel Demma, a recent admit to the political science program at Johns Hopkins University, is a 17-year-old high school senior at Boston University Academy. She has been an award-winning member of her school’s Model UN team since her freshman year, and the following spring was the first sophomore to ever be elected president of the team. During her presidency, she has helped three of her classmates (the future world leaders Victor Orlov, Will Rose, and Phill Giliver) organize a conference at her school for middle school students, doubled the number of conferences her team has attended and led the team to victory numerous times. With a passion for politics, she has taken several political science classes at Boston University and summer courses at Brown University. She attended her first political event when 18 months old at a Clinton-Gore rally in the fall of ’96, and most recently attended a lobbying event sponsored by Planned Parenthood at the Boston State House. She looks forward to blogging for The Huffington Post and hopes to continue to do so while at Johns Hopkins.
