Rep. Bill Cassidy

Representative for Louisiana's Sixth District.

For over 20 years, Congressman Bill Cassidy has served the uninsured in Louisiana’s public hospital system and taught medicine at LSU. A practicing
gastroenterologist, he still sees patients when the House isn’t in
session.

In his first term in the House, Cassidy serves on Education & Labor,
Natural Resources, and Agriculture Committees. An Assistant Whip for
the Republican Conference, he is a member of the GOP Health Care Task
Force, the Congressional Doctor Caucus, the Congressional Health Care
Reform Caucus, and the Republican Study Committee.

A graduate of LSU and LSU Medical School, Cassidy met his wife, Laura
Layden Cassidy, during his medical residency at UCLA. Laura Cassidy
is also a physician. She was formerly the Chief of Surgery at Earl K.
Long Hospital in Baton Rouge, and later entered private practice
treating breast cancer. Their three children, Will (14), Meg (11),
and Kate (7), attend public schools in Baton Rouge.
