Richard Borowsky

Professor of Biology, New York University

Richard Borowsky, Professor of Biology at New York University, received his BA from Queens College, CUNY and his Ph.D. in biology from Yale University. He specializes in the evolutionary biology of fresh-water fishes, especially cave fishes, and has organized or co-organized numerous field research or caving expeditions in Mexico, Thailand, Brazil and Honduras. In addition to writing on biology for the lay public he has authored over 60 scientific publications on evolutionary genetics and genomics. He is an elected Fellow of the Explorers Club and currently heads the Cave Biology Research Group at NYU.
