Robert Steinglass

Immunization Team Leader, MCHIP; Immunization Senior Advisor, JSI

Mr. Steinglass is MCHIP's Immunization Team Leader, as well as Immunization Senior Advisor for John Snow, Inc. (JSI), and Project Director for two JSI-managed projects funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation—Africa Routine Immunization System Essentials (ARISE), and Universal Immunization (Ethiopia) through Improving Family Health Services (UI-FHS).

Mr. Steinglass has an MPH from the Johns Hopkins University and has led immunization projects for JSI since 1990. He has overseen the technical agenda of many USAID-funded projects (IMMUNIZATIONbasics, BASICS II, BASICS, REACH II, and REACH) engaged in strengthening routine immunization program performance.

Mr. Steinglass began his career with the World Health Organization (WHO) in the mid-1970’s working on smallpox eradication in Ethiopia and Yemen. He then served for 10 years as the resident WHO Technical Officer for the Expanded Program on Immunization in Yemen, Oman and Nepal, and has served on many advisory committees at WHO, UNICEF, GAVI, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Institute of Medicine. He is the author of a dozen peer-reviewed publications and has worked in nearly 50 countries.
