Robert Ulrich

Mentor, 'The Glee Project'

Robert J. Ulrich served as a mentor on the first season of Oxygen’s hit competition show “The Glee Project,” and will return for the upcoming second season. Ulrich, the casting director for both “The Glee Project” and “Glee,” is from the wonderful town of Modesto, in northern California (home of Gallo wine and George Lucas). After graduating from the University of Pacific in Stockton, he earned his Masters Degree in English from the University of Stanislaus and moved to New York City to pursue a vocation in acting. He eventually returned to California to begin a career in casting. While working at Reuben Cannon & Associates, Robert met his future partners Eric Dawson and Carol Kritzer. In 1989 Robert and Eric formed their own company, Ulrich/Dawson & Associates; two years later Carol Kritzer came on board and they became Ulrich/Dawson/Kritzer Casting.

For “Glee,” Robert, under his company Ulrich/Dawson/Kritzer, recently won an Emmy® for Achievement in Casting for a Television Comedy Series, as well as a Casting Society of America (CSA) award for Best Comedy Series. He has also won a Casting Society of America award for Best Comedy Television Pilot for "Glee" and a Media Access Award for Casting Actors with Disabilities. Robert is being honored by No Limits for deaf children in June, specifically for his contribution to the deaf community.

Robert is married to actress Kim Johnston Ulrich and has two children – Cooper, 20 and Tierney, 11.
