Rosie Sharpe

Lead investigator on financial institutions and corruption at Global Witness

Rosie Sharpe is a lead investigator on financial institutions and corruption at Global Witness, a non-governmental organization based in London and Washington, DC.

Global Witness exposes the corrupt exploitation of natural resources and international trade systems, to drive campaigns that end impunity, resource-linked conflict, and human rights and environmental abuses. It was co-nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003 for its work on conflict diamonds.

Rosie campaigns on corruption and money laundering, with a focus on how dictators can bring their stolen loot into the western financial system. Before this, she started Global Witness’ campaign on oil and transparency in Sudan.

Before joining Global Witness Rosie worked as a research scientist. She has a first class honours degree from the University of Cambridge and a PhD from the University of Leeds.
