Howard Schweber
Professor of Political Science and Legal Studies, University of Wisconsin-Madison
Howard Schweber is Professor of Political Science and Legal Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he is also an affiliate faculty member of the Law School, the Integrated Liberal Studies program, and the Center for the Advancement of Postsecondary Education. He is also the coach of the UW College Mock Trial team, faculty advisor to Sifting and Winnowing (undergraduate magazine), a long time member of the Faculty Senate and Chair of the Committee on Faculty Rights and Responsibilities. From 2011 to 2013 he was Vice Provost for Academic Affairs at Nazarbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan, where he is presently Special Advisor to the President. Schweber has received numerous awards for teaching including the William H. Keikhoffer Memorial Award for Distinguished Teaching at Wisconsin and the Stephen and Margery Russell Award at Cornell University. He is the author of four books and more than thirty articles and book chapters; his most recent book is Democracy and Authenticity (Cambridge University Press, 2013). He makes great omelettes and tells jokes that are much funnier than people realize. Which is too bad,really.
