A wife of 8 years and the mother of two children, Shaana has been actively working to promote changes in maternity care for six years. She started out as a doula after the birth of her son in 2002, then trained to be an educator and began teaching childbirth classes soon thereafter. After the home birth of her daughter in 2005, Shaana began working with a local midwife attending home births. She plans on starting her own midwifery education later this year as she pursues her path to midwifery licensure in California. Shaana is also the founder and President of Moms in Bloom, a Solano County, CA nonprofit organization working to raise money to open a Pregnancy Resource Center in her area. She is actively involved with her local MOMS club and when she’s not helping area moms, she likes to read, write, and play on the trampoline with her kids.
