Shyla Nelson is an internationally-acclaimed classical soprano, holistic voice trainer, and founder of the One Earth. One Voice. campaign, an environmentally-focused movement through song, now in over 70 countries worldwide. Having circumnavigated the planet over 99 days in 2012, traveling solo while carrying a 14-inch diameter glass globe symbolizing the frailty of the earth, Nelson and the One Earth. One Voice. campaign synchronized millions of people in over 70 countries worldwide to sing a Yoruba song, calling for the healing of the earth, on December 21, 2012. The campaign has garnered support from Kennedy Center Honoree Pete Seeger, multi-Grammy-award winnng world musician Paul Winter, environmental leaders leaders Bill McKibben of 350. org, Larry Schweiger of National Wildlife Federation, the Yoruba elders of Abeokuta, Nigeria, Mayan Elder Ac Tah, King Sunny Ade, and rapper Kellee Maize, the campaign enters its second year, preparing for another day of global song for the earth on December 21, 2013. The glass globe and the message of the campaign will culminate with a presentation to the United Nations General Assembly, calling upon world leaders to work effectively to end violence against the earth in all of its forms.
