Sojourner Morrell

Model and equestrian based in Paris

I never planned on having my current job, yet I find myself today, here in Paris working as a fashion model. Before, I have been an eleve at the Spanish riding school in Vienna, a student at NYU, and more recently a rider with Bartabas in Versailles. (More on all this later). What does it really mean to be a fashion model? I am still finding out myself! Yes, there are glamorous moments walking down the runway the music pumping, however there are also more mundane situations where you find yourself traversing all of Paris portfolio and book in hand for weeks on end during fashion week. The job is a roller coaster ride of extreme highs and what can feel like devastating lows. The feeling is akin to rising and falling from stardom in the course of an afternoon. Stability? It is not inherent in the job description. Despite its somewhat dubious reputation however I must admit that modeling has its advantages-it has sent me to places I never dreamt of going (Azerbaijan?), and introduced me to people I might never have had the opportunity of meeting otherwise. I want to share some of these experiences in this blog; to capture a glimpse of the places, people and ideas that inspire me in my daily life...
