Steve Fleischli is the national Water Program Director and a Senior Attorney at the Natural Resources Defense Council. His work encompasses water quality as well as water security in a changing climate. Prior to joining NRDC in 2010, he served as the executive director and later the president of Waterkeeper Alliance, an international organization that supports local watershed programs in more than 260 communities on six continents. Before that he served for four years as the Santa Monica Baykeeper. He has also worked as a legal and policy analyst for Heal the Bay and as an adjunct law professor at Pepperdine University School of Law. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and a law degree from UCLA.
