National Campaign Chair, The Jewish Federations of North America

Susan Stern is the 2011-2012 National Campaign Chair of The Jewish Federations of North America.

Ms. Stern previously served as chair of the board and Campaign chair of UJA-Federation of New York, president and chair of National Women’s Philanthropy of United Jewish Communities, a member of the Board of Governors of the Jewish Agency for Israel, and national chair of the UJA Young Leadership Cabinet.

A community activist and political advocate in New York and nationally, Ms. Stern has been nominated by President Barack Obama to chair of the President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. She is the chair of the New York State Commission on National and Community Service and has served on the Governor’s cabinet. She also serves as the special advisor on Government Affairs to the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee.

Ms. Stern’s involvement in other organizations includes the Leadership Council of Repair the World, the Board of Trustees of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, the Dean’s Advisory Committee for the University of Michigan, and the President’s Advisory Committee for Hebrew Union College. She serves as an alumni fellow of the Wexner Heritage Foundation.

Prior to her involvement in philanthropic causes, Ms. Stern served as the first director of Quality Assurance at the American Dental Association, where she authored a book on quality assurance in dentistry and lectured extensively on the subject.
