Susan Lewis Solomont lives in Madrid, Spain with her husband Alan D. Solomont, United States Ambassador to Spain and Andorra. Prior to moving to Madrid, Ms. Solomont was a Senior Philanthropic Advisor at The Philanthropic Initiative (TPI) in Boston, Massachusetts, a not-for-profit consulting firm that advises individuals, family foundations and corporations on how to design philanthropy programs that create meaning and impact. For the past 15 years, Ms. Solomont worked closely with the boards of trustees and grantees of numerous foundations to develop entrepreneurial approaches to private philanthropy. Ms. Solomont also worked with many corporate clients to help develop strategic approaches to corporate civic engagement. She has helped to develop focused, and results oriented approaches to charitable giving and community engagement.

Ms. Solomont believes in being an active citizen of the community in which she lives. She has been a trustee on the boards of many leading institutions including the Tufts University Friedman School of Nutrition, The New England Aquarium, Women’s Health Initiative at Boston Medical, Center, Newton Wellesley Hospital, the Citi Center for the Performing Arts, The Commonwealth Institute, the WGBH Board of Overseers, Boston Jewish Community Women’s Fund and Temple Beth Elohim.

She has received several awards in recognition of her community leadership including the

Outstanding Women’s Leadership Award, Boston, MA.

Susan earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Cornell University and a Masters of Education degree at Tufts University. She is married to Alan Solomont and they have two wonderful daughters, Becca, 25 and Stephanie, 20.
