Tom Sullivan

President, University of Vermont

Tom Sullivan became the 26th president of the University of Vermont in July 2012. Before coming to UVM, he served as senior vice president for Academic Affairs and provost at the University of Minnesota from July 2004 through January 2012 and as dean of University of Minnesota Law School from 1995 to 2002. Prior to that, he was dean of the University of Arizona Law School and associate dean at the Washington University Law School. Sullivan, a nationally recognized authority on antitrust law and complex litigation, has authored eleven books and over 50 articles. On several occasions, he has been a consultant to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee on judicial nominations to the Supreme Court, and to the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee on mergers. The American Bar Association has awarded him both the Robert J. Kutak Award, honoring an individual who has significantly enhanced collaboration between the academy, the bench and the bar, and the J. William Elwin, Jr. Award for leadership and contributions to law school development.
