Vera Haller is an associate professor of Journalism at CUNY's Baruch College in New York. She is also an active freelance journalist, covering New York City news as well as foreign immigration stories. Previously, she was editor-in-chief of amNewYork and editor of NYNewsday.com. She also worked overseas as a journalist in the 1990s, writing for Reuters, The Washington Post and other outlets.
