Vernon James Schubel is Professor of Religious Studies at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio where he is also actively involved in the Asian and Middle East Studies and Islamic Civilization and Cultures programs. He is the author of the book Religious Performance in Contemporary Islam: Shi-I Devotional Rituals in South Asia and numerous articles on Islam. He has conducted research on Islam in South and Central Asia and Turkey.
